“Chaos” is a painting charged with emotional intensity, in which form and content intertwine into a dense, almost dramatic structure. Cascades of paint stream down the surface of the canvas, evoking a sense of disorder where everything seems to merge—as if the world had lost its clarity and common direction. This painterly gesture conveys a kind of existential unease: disappointment, anger, resignation. As the artist himself admits, the work was born out of a lost belief in the possibility of community—in a vision of a “better world” that has gradually given way to an experience of chaos and solitude.

The composition stands out with its expressive, dynamic structure, built upon violent streaks of dripping paint and strong color contrasts—especially black, red, and white. This is painting full of motion and tension, where emotion feels almost physically present. The forceful painterly gesture and intense color palette amplify the emotional power of the work—its inner restlessness.

In Chaos, as in other works from the Vagabondages series, Bernard Boujol treats painting as a means of recording emotion—filtered through personal experience and embedded in layers of color. His abstractions create a space of intense sensations and meanings that do not impose interpretation, but instead invite personal reflection.
